Dani B. Darling

biography

Dani specializes in representing A-list talent including actors, writers, directors, and producers. She has extensive experience working with production companies in the film, television, and new media world through all aspects of content creation. Dani routinely negotiated rights acquisition agreements, talent agreements, above-the-line and below-the-line production agreements, music licenses, composer agreements, insurance matters, clearance, credit compliance, as well as handling advertising, promotion, and marketing issues. Dani is well versed in guild and union issues as well as Covid-19 policies and implementing RTW protocols. Dani has always had a love for the arts and is passionate about working with creators and their projects.

Prior to joining LaPolt Law, Dani was lead legal counsel for Jellysmash Productions – the tech driven production unit at Jellysmack, a global creator company named to Fast Company’s annual list of the World’s Top Ten Most Innovative Companies in 2022 and 2023. While at Jellysmack, Dani negotiated and oversaw a high volume of production related contracts in social and digital media space (content created for YouTube, Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok).

Prior to that, Dani handled all legal aspects of Electric Entertainment’s development and production activities across EE’s original film and television content made for broadcast and cable television and new media projects (AVOD, SVOD and other media), ElectricNOW (OTT app and FAST channel); Electric Surge (podcast), and Electric FX (in-house effects/post-production).

Dani has worked in various in-house business affairs roles at Blumhouse, A+E Studios, and The Walt Disney Studios as well as boutique firms where she represented independent filmmakers. A proud Latina and native Angeleno, Dani received her J.D. from Southwestern Law School and her B.A. from Whittier College. Outside of the office, Dani is a flamenco dancer and avid gardener.
